The aim of this article is to explain the intention of choosing a political anthroponym in the binomial nomenclature terms; to compare semantic rethinking mechanisms during the operation of these taxa and to determine their further use expediency in terminology. The study resulted in definition and description of the specific aspects of semantic motivation for eponyms named after political and military figures. The social factors affecting the intent to choose the anthroponym in taxa are identified. It is found out that the social hierarchy and the political situation affect the change in the semantics of the term. Under the conditions of social stratification, ideosemantics of political name is perceived differently not only in different languages, but also in social environments. This study used linguistic material (taxa of biomedical nomenclature), which was rarely subjected to linguistic analysis. During the operation of the term, a semantic rethinking of the name may occur. If a negatively perceived name interferes with the functioning of the term, a decision is made to eliminate it despite the terminological norm. A case has been revealed in which changed ideosemantics affects not only the functionality of the taxon, but also negatively affects the population of a biological species. It was determined that using of eponyms named after political and military figures is not desirable or advisable in terminology.
