This article examines poetry as a means of survival aimed at preserving personal integrity and inner freedom in the context of a prison camp. Special attention is given to the supportive, meaning-making, and transformative functions of poetry, which becomes not only a means of reflecting on a difficult period in life, but also a means of self-reflection and internal resistance. The article argues that in a state of non-freedom, poetry becomes a support that allows for the symbolic overcoming of the prison reality and the creation of an alternative space.
