The effects of mechanical activation and thermal annealing on the textural characteristics of NaX zeolite were studied. Mechanical activation was found to lead to particle aggregation, a reduction in specific surface area, and a decrease in pore volume, without affecting the average pore diameter. Calcination at 600°C increased the specific surface area and pore volume. The introduction of the modified zeolite into PTFE (up to 2 wt%) positively impacted the ductility and strength of the composite; however, further increases in filler concentration resulted in a decrease due to particle agglomeration. The potential for using modified NaX zeolite as a filler for composite materials was demonstrated.
