Keyword: «concept of 'pride»

This article delves into the concept of 'pride,' a notion with a protracted history and a substantial accumulation of knowledge among native Russian speakers. It is established that the objectification of the concept of 'pride' is most prominently realized at the phraseological level of the language. Based on the cognitive scenario where an individual's arrogance contrasts sharply with their modest material or social standing, the Russian language has developed numerous ironic proverbs and sayings, for instance: 'Great ships sail calm waters'; 'A big fish in a little pond.' An investigation into the phraseological level of objectification of the concept of 'pride' has facilitated the identification of associative-figurative parallels: the proud person as anthropomorphism; the proud person as zoomorphism; the proud person as phytomorphism; the proud person as object; the proud person as mythologeme.
