The article discusses the issues of destructive leadership based on the study of the perception of leadership traits by employees of Russian organizations. Leadership is defined as the ability to influence a group in order to achieve common goals. Special attention is paid to the comparison of constructive and destructive leadership: constructive leadership is characterized by respect for subordinates and a focus on the goals of the organization, while destructive leadership is characterized by personal interests, aggression, and disregard for the team. The study was conducted using the original questionnaire «Analysis of Destructive Leadership,» which was developed to assess the manifestations of destructive leadership types based on the psychoanalytic approach and the typology of personality accentuations. Based on a survey of employees in large enterprises (N = 178), a significant difference was found in the expression of destructive traits between effective and ineffective leaders. The results show that weak managers have more pronounced destructive traits, particularly narcissism, manipulation, and psychopathy, while effective leaders exhibit significantly less destructive behavior. This study highlights the importance of diagnosing and developing constructive leadership qualities to foster a healthy organizational culture and improve management practices.
