To describe the frictional interaction of a powder coating with a metal counterbody under steady wear, a statistical model has been developed based on the binomial distribution of removed wear particles. In the model, the deletion events of coating and counterbody particles are optional. It is assumed that the Bernoulli test corresponds to the friction path. The proposed statistical approach to the description of the steady wear of a powder coating and a counterbody under sliding friction based on the local Moivre-Laplace theorem provides a statistical justification for the normality of the distribution of the profiles of the equilibrium friction surfaces of the coating and the counterbody.

INVESTIGATION OF CONTACT SURFACES OF POWDER COATINGS AND STEEL COUN-TERBODIES UNDER SLIDING FRICTION
To describe the frictional interaction of a powder coating with a metal counterbody under steady wear, a statistical model has been developed based on the binomial distribution of removed wear particles. The profilometric method was used to study the microgeometry of contact surfaces in friction units «wear-resistant coating – steel counterbody» during sliding friction at room and low climatic temperatures. The analysis of profilometric data revealed that the distribution of heights of the friction surface profiles of wear-resistant coatings and counterbodies is mainly unimodal and is characterized by symmetry.
