In the article, the authors share their impressions of V.V. Kirillov's special courses on architecture, which they attended at Moscow State University. It is noted that V.V. Kirillov not only possessed fundamental knowledge of the history of architecture, but also knew how to give them philosophical and poetic images, taught to see multidimensional reality in architectural forms.
The question of the role of the Department of the History of Russian Art at Moscow State University in the training of specialists in the history of art is touched upon. The contribution of the head of the department, Alexander Ilyich Morozov, to the creation of a creative atmosphere in the team, which in the turning 1980-1990s. strived not only to preserve the scientific and educational traditions of the department, but to introduce into the educational process new subjects on the history of Russian fine arts and architecture.
