The article discusses issues related to the construction of a digital electrical network. The analysis of existing technical solutions implemented at various levels of the electric power system, allowing to obtain operational information about the current state of the system, automatically control its operating modes, and also considered the existing methods of data transmission. The main distinctive features of the construction of «digital» substations as the most important element of the «digital» network are noted.

This work is devoted to the analysis of the importance of the electric power industry and energy resources for the economic development and sustainability of society. Energy economics is considered as an interdisciplinary field focusing on the impact of energy production, distribution and consumption on macro- and microeconomic indicators. The main definitions of energy resources and their importance for building an efficient economy are considered.
