The author deals with the general problem of reducing the educational-cognitive activity of students. The author proposes methods of its research in close relationship with monitoring levels of knowledge, presents the results of the questionnaire concerning to assess the importance for discipline "Engineering Graphics" by university students. The author suggests an approximate plan for teaching of the discipline topics, which is an example of a particular solution of the problem. This approach can improve the activation of independent cognitive activity of students.
