One of the most significant factors affecting the socio-economic development of the state is the level and quality of education, highly qualified personnel increase the efficiency of economic sectors. On the other hand, it is the state that, by developing the education system, forms the poten-tial of human capital. Therefore, the improvement of education financing mechanisms in the Russian Federation plays an important role in its development. In recent years, the project approach has acquired particular importance among public management tools. The purpose of the study is to study the experience of implementing the National Project «Education» (hereinafter referred to as the Project). The analysis of the state financing of the Project as a whole and in the context of federal projects revealed a number of problems in its implementation and identified possible ways to overcome them.
