One of the functions of the Russian customs authorities is to ensure national security. The main role in this area, of course, is assigned to customs control. However, for its effective application, it is necessary to improve not only this activity of customs authorities and its other areas: customs operations, customs clearance, etc. the Use of electronic forms in the provision of customs services is an innovation in customs today. However, the transfer of customs Declaration to an electronic basis has already shown how much efficiency increases when implementing this innovation in the customs sphere. Its further development will significantly increase the work of all customs structures. This is not an assumption, but a statement confirmed by practice, which is also proved by our research.

The article examines the main indicators of foreign trade activity of the Eurasian economic Union for 2015–2020, also provides an analysis of the problems that the EAEU is currently facing with, and highlights the prospects for the development of this economic Union.

The article is devoted to the challenges and prospects for the Russian economy in the field of import substitution of innovations. The changes in the value of imports to the Russia, the amount of expenses for innovative activities of organizations in the Russia and the number of shipped innovative goods, works and services in the Russia over the past 7 years have been analyzed. Conclusions are drawn that help to understand what is required for a comprehensive solution to the problems of innovation activities, which contributes to economic growth, reducing dependence on imported goods, and increasing the competitiveness of the Russian economy.
