Traditional culture is the cultural achievements of a region, a country and a nation that have stirred for thousands of years in the long history, and this treasure has a positive contribution to improve the art design training program in colleges and universities. This paper takes the significance of traditional culture in art design training program reform as the starting point, combines the current situation of traditional culture in art design training program reform in first-class colleges and universities, local colleges and universities in ethnic minority regions, outlooks on training program reform ideas, and finally proposes effective reform measures for introducing traditional culture into art design training pro-gram. The systematic introduction of the excellent traditional culture of Chinese nation into the art and design education of colleges and universities is driven and demanded by the times, and the successful integration of the two can not only make the college students become the main body of spreading, carrying forward and inheriting the excellent tradi-tional culture, but also promote and facilitate the cultural self-confidence and cultural self-improvement of Chinese nation.
