With the deepening of the aging process in China, the problem of old age is becoming more and more obvious. The traditional model of old age is becoming increasingly unsuitable for the development of society, and the conflict between supporting empty nesters and working for young people is becoming increasingly serious. To alleviate this phenomenon, the «CCRC» model was imported from abroad to solve the problem of aging in China, and the emergence of smart homes has also alleviated this social problem to a certain extent with the advent of smart homes specifically designed for the elderly. However, the implementation of the CCRC model does not meet the current situation of China's aging population and has resulted in confusing design, unclear positioning, ineffective services, and expensive pricing. To solve contemporary social problems and provide more age-friendly living space and smart home design strategy, it is necessary to study the lifestyle and emotional needs of the elderly living in CCRC, so that the design strategy can be more ideally adapted to the status of the elderly through three aspects: contextual optimization of space, optimization of emotional needs and optimization of space functions. The three aspects of design strategy are optimization of contextual space, optimization of emotional needs, and optimization of spatial function. Through analysis of research data, seniors in the CCRC model are divided into two types: those who strive for practical smart homes, and those who strive for a combination of aesthetics and practicality. The living behavior characteristics of older adults in four spaces–bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, and living room–are analyzed and summarized to optimize the elderly-friendly smart home under the “CCRC” model.
