The article examines the modernist interpretation of the theme of Christmas in V. Nabokov's short story "Christmas". The main idea here is the reincarnation (reincarnation) of the soul. After death, Sleptsov's child's soul transforms into a butterfly. Thus, the deceased child acquires the immortality of the soul through his rebirth in another body, and the father overcomes the pain of losing a loved one.
