In this work, based on the analysis of a wide range of official sources and practices in the organization of the local history movement of Russia, the current trends of its development in the Siberian regions are highlighted. Special attention is paid to the principles of preserving historical and cultural heritage in the field of local lore, at the level of school and additional education. We are talking about a new local history, which is developing on the basis of a rethinking of historical and cultural heritage based on the actualization of everyday history, oral tradition, family biographical chronicles. It is concluded that the development of local lore is associated with the actualization of regional and national identity. It is emphasized that the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation on 8.05.2024 on state policy in the field of historical education, one of the forms of which is historical local lore, is aimed at strengthening it. The focus on the assertion of effective patriotism determines the prospects of local history in Russia as a whole and in its Siberian regions.
