A method for the treatment of grade III-IV mammoth tusks with polymer resins has been developed to produce blanks suitable for subsequent processing on computer numerical control (CNC) machines. The procedure consists of alternating vacuum treatment stages with a stage in which the sample is maintained under excess pressure during treatment. This sequence has been identified as the most effective approach for preserving the structural integrity of low-grade mammoth tusk blanks.
