The article is devoted to relevant problems in the psychology of modern management - the development of management capacity, the rationale for the role of modern managers in the organization, as well as the definition of their key management competencies. The paper deals with the concepts of “competence”, “managerial competencies”. A theoretical analysis of the sources on this issue was carried out and the key managerial competencies of modern managers were highlighted.

The article examines the content, role and history of management development in the activities of naval officers. The special role of pedagogical science in the formation of the theoretical foundations and management skills is noted. The tasks of competence formation in the organizational and managerial activities of naval officers are analyzed, the essence of management and organization is determined. The definition of the essence of the organizational and managerial competence of an officer is given, it’s structure and contect are determined.
