The article discusses the special characteristics of the formation of modern Kazakh anthroponyms, the components that make up a name. The issues of the influence of time and history on the name of a person, as well as the semantic, spiritual, aesthetic, patriotic, political parts of the name are analyzed. Examples of Turkic, native Kazakh, pre-Islamic, post-Islamic, Soviet period and modern names of Kazakhs are given. The work highlights the main thematic semantic groups of Kazakh anthroponyms, provides examples of the formation of names with the prefixes ak-, ayu-, er-, ul-; examples of “discordant” names. Presents modern popular female and male names in the form of infographics. The morphological, semantic, mental characteristics of the naming of Kazakhs in modern times are noted.
