Informal childrens and teen names as a reflection of linguistic and sociocultural processes (on the example of nicknames in Grodno Dialects)

The object of the study is nicknames that functioning in children's and teenagers’ sphere of communication in Grodno dialects. Such informal names are used as elements of interpersonal communication in the conditions of Belarusian-Russian bilingualism. The study examines language and sociocultural factors that influence the system of the informal names, analyzes the semantics of nickname-forming bases, and their modeling. The authors emphasize that such names are a specific means of socializing a child.
