The article deals with issues related to cognitive activity, cognitive activity, in particular, at physics lessons. The meaning of the term "activity" is considered and the essence of "cognitive activity" is clarified. On an example of physics lesson the project "Refraction of light" which work consists in studying of a material on a site https://phet.colorado.edu/. This work actualized the need to identify pedagogical conditions that would contribute to the development of cognitive activity of students.
