The article aims to study the language of political discourse, and to consider the language as a key management tool because it is an essential attribute of power. We study the questions of gender specificity in politics and lingual stylistic features of political discourse by women-politicians on example of Hillary Clinton speeches. The article analyzes in detail the lexical means used to exert influence on the electorate.
The article is based on a linguistic and stylistic analysis of articles on Russia in the American socio-political media (The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and The International Herald Tribune) in 2008-2018. It shows the methods of using lexical and syntactic means to create a negative image of Russia (particularly, the coverage of the Russian-Georgian conflict in 2008).
The article focuses on metaphors with a color component used by politicians in the English-language media discourse to nominate economic realities. Using the example of the functioning of metaphors with a color component, the article considers the interaction of economic and political discourse in modern English-language media.
