The changes in the educational paradigm triggered off the changes in the young people’s attitude to higher education and to choosing their professional path. The context in which these changes are taking place demands that young people should be more active, independent in decision-making as well as putting their ideas into practice. The article describes the results of the research done at Ryazan State University that embraced several years and outlines the main tendencies that determine professional development of future teachers.
