the purpose of the article is to reveal the features of providing assistance by psychologists to families with children in their own situations that cause difficulties. In a situation where one of the parents takes on all the burdens of family life, it becomes necessary to turn to specialists, more often to psychologists. The concept of psychological support has been developed, and municipal centers have been opened. At the same time, many parents do not try to get such help or support in them. The methodology of assistance is based on a number of principles: determinism, development, objectivity, mental activity, reflectivity. Results – the article presents the experience of providing psychological assistance during the treatment of one of the parents, more often mothers, for advice about the difficulties of raising teenagers, a sharp change in their behavior and academic success at the present time.
