The article deals with the problem of legal regulation of a remote election campaign with a faction of the electoral rights of citizens and the right to participate in a referendum.

The article considers the principle of people's power as the basis of the democratic system of the Russian Federation. It analyzes its main forms – direct and representative democracy, as well as the mechanisms of their implementation. Special attention is paid to the constitutional-legal consolidation of democracy in Russia, as well as the existing problems and prospects of its development.
