The article discusses the views of Russian thinkers of the XIX-XX centuries, defending the view that Russia has recognized the Eurasian country with the right features in the formation and development of history, cul-ture and literature from the Western or Eastern civilizations, and plays a special role in world history.

The article presents the results of a study of the presence of Russophobia in the works of J. R. R. Tolkien. The author reveals the concept of Russophobia. The evidence of supporters and opponents of Tolkien's theory of Russophobia is analyzed. Letters of the writer with his opinion on this issue are given. In conclusion, the author summarizes the data and makes his assessment of the presence of Russophobia and racism in Tolkien's works.
