The article emphasizes the fact that knowledge of the measures of length, the ability to find the length, width, height, etc., is necessary for students both in everyday life and in mastering their profession. With all the measures of length and their ratios, elementary school students become acquainted during the whole period of their studies in the lower grades, but the fixing of these measures takes place during all the years of schooling. Training of students takes place within the framework of the concept of general education in the Azerbaijan Republic. The task of the teacher, according to the author, is achieved with the delivery of the basic features of the concept of magnitude through the use of various practical tasks of a cognitive nature, representing a kind of problem situations, consideration of which allows students to draw independent conclusions.
