The article is devoted to the topical issues of education of a secondary linguistic personality with a value attitude to the Russian language in the context of a multinational world. The purpose of the work is to study methods of formation of linguistic competence and cultural awareness among students learning Russian as a foreign language. The research methods used are linguistic and cultural analysis of texts, as well as comparative analysis of cultural and linguistic characteristics, which allows us to identify difficulties in the perception and understanding of texts by foreign students. The results of the study confirm that the development of linguistic and cultural competence is possible only through the comparison of cultures, which allows overcoming cultural and linguistic differences and contributes to a deeper perception of national peculiarities of thinking and speech behavior of native speakers. In conclusion, the importance of an integrated approach to learning, which includes both linguistic and cultural components, is emphasized.
