Based on focused observations, the main causes of the listening difficulties of Chinese students were identified. The main ways of overcoming difficulties in listening are suggested taking into account the types of listening. Listening exercises are offered with the aim of developing students' phonemic hearing. The purpose of the article: to offer practical recommendations that contribute to the development of listening skills of Chinese students.
