Abstract. The article dwells on the problem of life of wandering in the Russian literature of the second half of the 19th century and the second half of the 20th century. It is proved that there is dialogical correlation between the novel «Rudin» by I.S. Turgenev and «Ark for uninvited» by V. E. Maximov, connected with the authors reference to the biblical image of the Wandering Jew and their consideration of its meaning for the revelation of problems and ideas of the novel contents.
