Article is devoted to definition of the importance of mythological elements in Zakhar Prilepin's novel "Monastery". Distinctions of the myth and the monomyth are distinguished; monomyths tipologizirutsya: 1) personal, 2) public, 3) philosophical, 4) national, 5) case. The monomyth is considered as one of forms of the intertekstualnost giving an ancient mythological plot or any traditional mytheme in new interpretation. Art functionality of monomyths which consists in symbolization of the narration, in detection of character, in definition of an author's plan and the main idea of the novel of Prilepin "Monastery" comes to light.

The article dwells on the problem of life of wandering in the Russian literature of the second half of the 19th century and the second half of the 20th century. It is proved that there is dialogical correlation between the novel «Rudin» by I.S. Turgenev and «Ark for uninvited» by V. E. Maximov, connected with the authors reference to the biblical image of the Wandering Jew and their consideration of its meaning for the revelation of problems and ideas of the novel contents.
