Natural disasters as one of the reasons for the existence of insurance

Abstract. In work the essence and types of natural disasters are considered, dynamics and structure of emergency events in Russia in 2010-2013 is analysed, need of application of insurance as effective mechanism of protection of the state and society from various natural disasters is proved.
