The article deals with soma aspects of implementation of information and communication technologies in learning process. The practical value of these technologies is analyzed as well as the risks connected with the informatization of education.

The paper deals with the ways of students’ social competence formation. Basic requirements for the selection of materials for its formation are stated. The importance of work with periodicals and learning the language of newspapers in order to increase students’ educational level is underlined. The main stages of work with newspaper publications are provided.

This article deals with the aspects of organizing a distance foreign language learning at a non-language university, as well as the use of new information technologies in order to provide individualized instruction. The role of independent work to achieve a high-quality study of a foreign language in a remote mode is considered.
