This article examines the necessity of studying foreign-language official documentation and its use as a means of forming professional foreign-language competence. The author specifies the concept of profes-sional foreign-language competence, determines its content in the framework of written business communi-cation, and identifies a complex of competences formed while teaching rules of official documentation.
