The article examines topical issues of studying Russian as a foreign language on the basis of the formation of professional competence, conducted within the framework of the “Conversation Club” on the basis of a federal university in the national republic. Attracting Russian-speaking students studying foreign languages, organizing intercultural dialogue, using modern information resources and technologies contributes to the successful development of the Russian language at the level of professional communication.

The article examines the theoretical foundations of the formation of foreign language communicative competence of adolescents, reveals the content of the concept of communicative competence as a dynamic integrative personal quality of students. The criteria and levels of formation of communicative competence are described. The results of introductory diagnostic testing of primary school students are presented, on the basis of which it is concluded that it is necessary to implement the "Conversation Club" project as an effective means of developing foreign language communicative competence.
