The issues of rising the competence of the subjects of correctional process in the area of pedagogical basics of adult convicts’ self-correction are considered in the article. The data of pedagogical experiment confirming validity of extended theoretical attitudes are included.

The article made an attempt to highlight and analyze the causes of employment problems that arise in convicts after release from prison. The author conducted a study on the basis of the array of data that it turned out to be collected using methods of informal interviews with employees of the penal system, analysis of documents of institutions executing criminal penalties, in some cases the case-study method was used. This made it possible to implement an integrated approach in studying the problems of employment of those released from correctional institutions.
