The acquaintance of schoolchildren with the difficulties of their preferred professions is considered as one of the conditions for a well-grounded professional self-determination. The results of a questionnaire survey of workers traditional for the north of the Tyumen region and modern professions are presented. The necessity of including a creative component in the system of vocational guidance of students in order to prepare them for solving problems encountered in their preferred professions has been substantiated.
