The article puts forward a thesis about the transformation of the image of the garden in Walpole's work. The change in the style of the garden, reflected in the epistolary prose of the Enlightenment period and in the ideas of sensualists, is shown. The image of the garden changes not only its visible signs and characteristics as a manor object, but also turns into a new ideal fantasy garden created by the artist's personality in the author's creation.
