The article reconstructs the significant fragments of the linguistic picture of the world of Western Belarusians (in comparison with Russian) based on data from Grodno dialects: earthly and heavenly space, folk calendar (timekeeping).

Based on the materials of the Smolensk Regional Dictionary by V.N. Dobrovolsky and the Dictionary of Grodno Dialects by T.F. Steshkovich, the article examines the vocabulary that characterizes a person as a physical being, identifies common and specific approaches in describing the designated fragment of the linguistic picture of the world by speakers of closely related dialects.
