This article examines the application of modern forensic capabilities in crime detection and investigation. Particular attention is paid to the legal basis for the use of various information tools established by the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the Criminal Executive Code of the Russian Federation, and special federal laws. The need for procedural verifiability of digital evidence, the preservation of individual rights, and judicial review is substantiated.
