One of the main problems in modern Russian education is upbringing of a decent citizen, instilling of socislly useful skills, experiences and values. It is especially important to form them on early stages of education, as a foundation for further development and growth of the person. The relevance of the stated issue is due to changes in both Russian education system and the country as a whole due to social and political changes. The article discusses values and skills needed to develop younger students, establishes and analyses methods of their formation, shows the importance of civic education for the development of the personality of young schoolchildren, the main types of activities and events are carried out that contribute to the development and education of citizenship, patriotism, love for the homeland, provides examples of the main regulations governing the education of adolescents at school, as well as movements aimed at uniting young people, and identifies the main specialists responsible for educational activities at school and during extracurricular activities.
