The results of a free associative experiment are presented in the article. The cognitive analysis of the concept was carried out in Melitopol State University named after A.S. Makarenko according to a survey of the students. The core and periphery of the cognitive features of the concept are revealed; thus, the semantic content of the concept under investigation in the naïve picture of the students’ world is determined.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the free associative experiment results (FAE) of the lexicon of a foreign student’s linguistic personality. Criteria of the selection of stimulus words are revealed, paradigmatic and syntagmatic links between reaction words and stimulus words are identified and interpreted.
