The article reveals the issues of preparation and teaching methods for the horn as the leading instrument in the orchestra. Issues of sound production, embouchure, and proper breathing underlie the formation of the performing apparatus in the process of pro-fessional training. The world horn performing art appears today as the result of the activi-ties of many generations of wind players and teachers, as a result of history with a form of manifestation, attitude and aesthetics of musical artistic perception continuously changing over time.

The article reveals the history of the Yakut horn performing school, highlighting three historical periods: starting with the activities of G.M. Krivoshapko from 1959 to the early 1990s, from the opening of the State Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (from 1993 to 2010) and from the beginning of the opening of the Yakutia Philharmonic to the present (2011–2021).
