The author gives the theoretical analysis of the problem of identifying, understanding and recognition of emotions by adolescents with intellectual disability.

The paper deals with the results of the empirical research of features of identification of emotions in interrelations with cognitive and perceptual processes of mentally retarded younger teenagers. Empirical data are generalized and levels of identification of emotions are described.
