The article analyzes the influence of industrial policy on solving socio-economic problems. The role of increasing the efficiency of the regional economy is explored. The speed and efficiency of the implementation of a certain stage of the product life cycle depends on the totality of elements that make up the regional authorities and the regional industrial complex. Thus, the structure of the product life cycle includes elements included in the subjects of regional government, and the constituent elements of the industrial complex of the region. Thus, the presence of the maximum required number of elements of the industrial complex at each stage of the product life cycle will contribute to the fact that the implementation period of the product life cycle will be reduced. The competitiveness of an industrial region directly depends on the speed of implementation of the totality of all stages of the product life cycle.

The economic sovereignty of a state can be achieved through an import substitution policy that allows the country to independently determine the vector of its economic development. As a comprehensive instrument of economic strategy, import substitution is aimed at ensuring the independence of the state in the economic sphere, which is a key factor for its sustainable development and prosperity in the long term.
