The paper issues on the problem of encoding information in the text and focuses on the text of an annonce of a fiction book. ‘’Evaluative code’’ is thoroughly described through the prism of the reader’s perception. This code lets him form an opinion of a fiction book, educe its applicability as a mean of socializing in a group. The author distinguishes linguistic means of presentation of such code elements retrieved in the annoces in three languages (Russian, English, French).
