The paper presents the results of a comparative analysis of investment funds in Russia. The author presents the essence of investment funds, the advantages and disadvantages of collective investment and the classification of investment funds. The author systematizes the requirements, established by the legislation of the Russian Federation to the composition and structure of the assets of investment funds, gives their comparative characteristics and recommendations to fund selection to small private investors.
