This article, based on the author's long-term research, examines the policy of the Russian Empire regarding the Siberian states of the Siberian and Kazakh khanates, as well as the interrelationships of these khanates among themselves. In order to better understand and comprehend the essence of events related to the role that Russia attached to Siberia in its foreign policy in general, and the Kazakh Khanate in particular, the purpose of the work was, first of all, to consider in general terms what the policy that tsarist Russia adhered to regarding the territories in question was. The relationship between the Kazakh Khanate and the Siberian Shibanids is covered very rarely and the information about their relationship is very sketchy. The novelty of the study is seen in the fact that we have examined the relations between these Turkic khanates through the prism of the foreign policy of the Russian autocracy.
