The article presents a brief description of the Corps of army officers of the Russian Empire as a social strata and public Institute, and set some basic factors determinirovavshie historical authorities need to intensify efforts in the sphere of its patriotic education in peacetime. Certain aspects of the problems disclosed in summary form with links to historical and historiographical sources where these aspects are detailed.
Using the example of denunciation of the highest name of the Olonetsk tradesman I. V. Kondratyeva, the existing in the Russian Empire in the 1st half of the XIX century are considered. procedure for the consideration of such denunciations. It is concluded that: 1) any such denunciation gave rise to a huge and lengthy case and legal proceedings, which included almost all the highest (emperor, Council of State, Senate), regional (governor-general), provincial (governor, treasury chamber , the chamber of the criminal court) and county (county court, city magistrate) administration and court; 2) when considering such denunciations, archaic material and procedural laws were applied, which were one of the reasons for the lengthy and ineffective legal proceedings; 3) the tsarist administration was very attentive to the signals of this kind and did not get rid of formal replies; 4) if confirmed, such denunciations had negative consequences for officials of the provincial administration, since they entailed a prolonged dismissal and often ended in complete withdrawal from such without the right of subsequent determination to serve; 5) denunciations were an important part of the mechanism of state control over the activities of provincial administrations and entrepreneurs, being "one of the few means to find out the truth." The article is written on the basis of documents extracted from 3 archives using a microhistoric approach.
