The author discusses the current issues of labor education of the younger generation in Russia.

The paper deals with the problem of influence of labor activity on formation of strong-willed qualities of the person of younger pupils: the essence of the concepts “strong-willed qualities” and “labour”; various kinds of work; practical training; influence of labor on formation of strong-willed qualities of a person.

The article substantiates the need to use didactic games in labor (technology) lessons to increase students' motivation and engagement. The results of the research, which includes the development and testing of an interactive methodological resource with didactic games, are presented. The structure of the resource, the principles of its use and the results of expert evaluation are described. The conclusion is made about the expediency of introducing gaming technologies into the educational process as an effective means of developing practical skills and key competencies of schoolchildren.

The article highlights the importance of labor education for children with intellectual disabilities. The analysis of the results of diagnostics of the level of independence of younger schoolchildren with intellectual disabilities in the performance of household tasks is given. The conditions and results of an experiment aimed at increasing the level of students' independence when working with soil are described.
