According to recent studies, modern children and adolescents are characterized by: changes in the indicators of physical development, early onset of chronic pathology, widespread neuropsychiatric deviations and, especially alarming, widespread forms of addictive behavior. Having studied the data on the health status of modern children and adolescents, the rapid spread of various addictions among the younger generation, we should speak about the relevance of research in the field of addictive behavior prevention. Thus, the purpose of this study is a theoretical analysis of domestic and foreign scientists’ views regarding the concept of addiction, prevention of addictions, types, models, forms, as well as its causes; search for programs, methods and techniques for working with students on the prevention of addictions in an educational institution aimed at developing the skills of healthy lifestyles in children and adolescents, an active life position for resolving problems, conflict situations, personal characteristics and qualities (psychological resources) that help overcome difficult situations. The main results of the article are theoretical ideas of domestic and foreign scientists regarding the concepts of addiction, prevention of addictions, types, models, forms, as well as the causes of its occurrence; directions of work to solve this problem among adolescents and young people in educational institutions (a set of psychological diagnostic measures aimed at identifying risk groups for addictive behavior; a set of measures aimed at preventing addictive behavior, initiating adolescents and young people into healthy lifestyle). For the diagnosis of addictive behavior, you can use methods such as observation, interviews, projective techniques and questionnaires. The complex of procedures aimed at the prevention of addictive behavior includes the development and implementation of a special program of measures by teachers, psychologists, together with social workers, and doctors. The main blocks of the program of measures aimed at the prevention of addictive behavior include work on additional professional training of teachers; providing students with information about drug addiction, alcoholism, smoking and other addictions; development of students' necessary life skills that would give them the opportunity to cope with various situations; informing and supporting parents. The article may be interesting to scholars and practitioners involved in the prevention of addictions, as well as to psychologists, educators, medical and social workers and to parents.
